Impact Testing

 

After a week of -89 degree temperatures and the drop above, I think these humble petri dishes have proved themselves worth.  For the spring 2021 ASCEND launch I am designing a biological experiment and have gone through many design possibilities.  The delivery system the needs to be lightweight, secure, and impact resistant.

Professor Cotter introduced me to this particular dish and I can make whatever auger necessary, additionally there are filter membranes that fit in them perfectly that will provide a great medium for inoculation and analysis.  

This was one of the more fun aspects of this semesters' research project.
